These learning resources offer an insight into how FRSM proposals are considered and discussed by an assessment panel.

Using three fictional proposals, you can listen to two examiners discuss the information provided by each candidate, consider the strengths of the proposal and identify areas that may need further development.

For an FRSM proposal, the panel normally consists of three people, including at least one specialist and an examiner. For the purposes of creating these learning resources, a smaller panel of two examiners was brought together to demonstrate the discussion and decision-making process.

The three examples show how different proposals are considered against the requirements for FRSM Unit 1, and how the panel reaches its decision. They also give an indication of the level and type of detail needed at the proposal stage, before a candidate begins work on their full submission.

Following the panel meeting, candidates receive a feedback form setting out the panel’s decision and feedback. This is returned to the candidate by email and, where further development is required, provides guidance to support the next steps.

First, read the three example proposals and then watch the video discussion.
