Assessing Progress in Primary Music

ABRSM has worked with the Royal Northern College of Music and a team of teachers to create a learning experience relevant to music making in your classroom.  This course gives you the knowledge and skills you need to start planning and assessing progress with confidence and be able to inspire the next generation of musicians. You will develop an awareness of how to measure progress in the core skills of music making; listening, singing, improvising and composing, and performing. Becoming a Music Teacher

This course is designed for instrumentalists and vocalists who are starting their teaching careers. Whether you have two or forty pupils, this course will give you the confidence, expertise and knowledge to become a successful teacher.   The course involves 18 hours of study in the form of online discussions, reading, analysing films, creating and using resources and reflecting on your individual situation and skills.  You will gain a thorough overview of the role and responsibilities of being a music teacher. You will hear how other teachers have used their passion for music as inspiration for their teaching identity, develop your communication skills, prepare for every learner as an individual, learn how to maintain high levels of wellbeing throughout your career, and gain the tools you need to succeed in your teaching.   This course is £35 plus VAT where applicable. Learning outcomes  By the end of this course, you will  Develop your teaching skills and expertise  Define your teaching identity  Recognise your strengths and weaknesses  Appraise resources available to you  Evaluate teaching practice and recognise improvements  Understand relevant Safeguarding policies and procedures in everyday practice, in relation to music education  Engage with other teachers around the world to share expertise and resources with those from around the world  Modules in Becoming a Music Teacher:  Musical Inspirations Building Relationships Working with Beginners Taking care of yourself Music Teaching and the law Understanding Safeguarding  You can either buy one place for yourself, by adding the course to your basket, or you can buy multiple places on the course for others. If you choose this option, you'll be emailed with a keycode that you can give to others to use as a coupon. We ask for your address when you buy one of our courses so that we can provide you with a VAT receipt.
